West Gate Lodge is situated in the grounds of Fountains Abbey. It was built around 1859 using stone from the abbey ruins.. It is now a cottage to rent.

That’s an interesting door. I expected to go inside through the open door. But it looks like it leads to a courtyard. Very cool, Lin.
Certainly a lot sturdier than today’s building practices.
