Poppies

For Cee’s Flower of the Day

It has been a good year for poppies in my garden this year

Perennial poppies. These last a lot longer than annual poppies and come back every year.

Annual poppies. The flowers don’t last very long, about a day or so.

I save the seeds from the poppy heads to plant another year.

All the above were in my garden and on a walk by the river I saw this striking poppy. It was hard to get a good shot because of the fence.

Pink Poppies

My pink poppies got a battering with the heavy rain and wind so they are looking quite bedraggled.

Red Poppy

This poppy looks partly yellow but it is all red. I shot it from below with the light behind it, it was droopy and in a vase.

Pink Poppies

These poppies are most unusual, they are perennials and are normally red. The first flower to bloom on this plant was a peachy pink [no photo] which faded to a mucky peachy colour. The bright pink one came out next. As you can see there are three different shades of flower on the same plant now.

A very unusual poppy sprung up in the garden, unusual because the stem was only about two inches long.

The poppies in my garden flowered today. This one has a really unusual shape.
