Studley Royal Fishing Pavilions

My entry for Monday Windows

The little fishing pavilions [a base for fishing trips] are at Studley Royal Water Garden which is next to Fountains Abbey. The garden was first started around 1716 and these buildings were probably part of the first construction. It was a good place to get out of the rain for a few minutes.

I’ve gone back in my archives to 2005 for these photos from the Eden Project in Cornwall. The ‘windows’ are actually made of plastic. The domes are made of┬átransparent hexagonal panels on a steel structure. The panels trap air between two layers of ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE), a kind of plastic.
